Did you know that “gilded” doesn’t have a “u” in it? Some how it seems like it should. The drift of my thoughts for this form went as follows.

“Wow, this is a vintage dress form. Antique would be a better word. It looks like a cage. Complicated to sew around that form… hand sew around that form…. corsets are better as an idea, not a reality. I could paint a bird in that skirt. Would that be too much…. yah – it would be too much. ……………………………………………People gild themselves…hello gilded age…. gilded cage…. back to the bird idea….”

I think I did well just to give this painting a one word, simple title. What do you think? There are positives and negatives closely associated with “gilded” which side do you gravitate to instinctively when you read the word?”
