How do you sketch an abstract? I generally don’t. But with all the lines, and scratch marks and layers of work I began to think of some of my sketchbooks and their linear qualities.
Sketchbooks are places for works in progress, for hashing out ideas – they are places I tend to write things I don’t want to forget. (I have yet to lose a sketchbook). My process for abstract paintings is a lot like working in a sketchbook – layers of trying things out. Trying things out is what this whole adventure has been about – especially this series.
